DUBAI CANVAS FESTIVAL | 2017

The Mine Projects was appointed by the Government of Dubai as a producer to work with Meeras in creating the largest art & culture event in the Middle East. Focused on 3D Art, over 30 international artists were flown to Dubai to participate in the 3D Art Award, with a total prize of 750.000$.

Dubai Canvas 3D Art Festival is a unique public art festival organised by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO). The annual event, launched in 2015, provides a platform for renowned artists from around the world to exhibit their creations in a public space. The third edition of the Dubai Canvas Festival, held in partnership with Meraas, opened 1st March until to 7th, 2017 in City Walk. Dubai Canvas 2017 featured the works of 25 international artists shortlisted for the Dubai Canvas 3D Art Award. The AED2.3 million Dubai Canvas 3D Art Award saw a total of 122 entries from 35 countries.

The main purpose of the Dubai Canvas 3D Art Festival is to bring high-quality art to urban places in Dubai and create chances for the public to engage with such famous and renowned artists and recognize their work. During this festival, public spaces in City Walk and Meeras urban destinations served as open-air canvases for artists to showcase their artwork. The 3D art festival reflected the character, vision, and cultural assortment of Dubai and the innovative spirit of its public.

Brand Dubai, in partnership with Meeras aimed on bringing Dubai’s topmost art events to actively engage the public and create unique lifestyle urban experiences. City Walk offered the perfect location for 3D artists to display their creative artwork. With the wonderful combination of a venue and a rich existing street art landscape, City Walk's innovative urban ambiance went perfectly well with the aims of the Dubai Canvas Festival 2017.
